Meatless Monday: Wild Blackberry & Basil Cocktails!

By Ayinde

The best part of a three-day weekend is having Monday off! Nothing like a nice afternoon buzz on a Monday, right? Riiiiight. So here is a cocktail idea for the friends in the backyard. If you have a small garden it really comes together when you can grab a few herbs and berries from the yard and make great crowd pleasing cocktail seemingly from thin air. But even if you don’t have handy urban garden or even a pea patch, a quick run to the grocery store will make this recipe happen just as easily.

Serves 4| Prep time 5 minutes|

Basil & Wild Blackberry punch.
Beefeater gin (ironically vegan)
8 ounces fresh wild blackberries (or container), rinsed
Juice of 1 medium lime
8 fresh basil leaves, torn
1/4 cup cane sugar
Soda water, chilled

Step one:
Using a wooden spoon, muddle berries and basil with lime and sugar into the bottom of a glass pitcher.

Step two:
Add 4-6 ounces gin to the mixture. Divide among four glasses, add ice and top with soda water.
