When I think of summer, among many things I instantly think of the crazy color, wild behavior, and sweet sweatiness that make up outdoor concerts and festivals. Incredible music lineups, endless libations, and huge venues are only half of the fun, though…the amazing fashion is the other. For the past couple of years I have loved checking out my favorite fashion blogs to see what celebrities, socialites, musicians, and streetwalkers have donned at these weekend-long fests. People are typically expected to hitch their style up a notch and create flowy, floral, animal print, leather, and tribal emsembles to enjoy the concerts in.
This past April, the music festival Coachella had stars pulling out all the stops in Palm Springs: crop tops, feathered jewelry, face paint, and weather-friendly Hunter boots. I particularly adored Kate Bosworth’s many outfits, including this animal-print and leather look:
If you’re not ashamed to steal her look and can bear the summer heat, these Free People vegan leather shorts will offer a similar look.
Have some more faux fun with this fake suede crop top from Mink Pink.
Of course, with any hot summer activity, you’ve got to come prepared. Shades, sunscreen, and some coconut water are the perfect essentials. Seems like this greened-out girl agrees.
This lovely group of models exude Coachella coolness with simple hair and edgy style; Karlie Kloss’ tribal patterned wrap is ideal for when the sun goes down.
Here’s another way to rock a pattern: these pants scream summer festival–can’t you just picture yourself swaying to Bon Iver or jamming to Dr. Dre in these!?
With Tennessee’s Bonnaroo taking place as you read this, my favorite Milwaukee festival, Summerfest (largest music festival in the world!) coming up in July, and Chicago’s Lollapalooza taking place in August, there are plenty of concerts to play dress-up for. Check back for a full report on this summer’s hottest fashion choices. Are you attending any music festivals this summer? Please share…what will you be wearing!?
