For someone who loves to babble about food and sex, you may be surprised to learn that I don’t really believe in aphrodisiacs. Unless you count tequila.
I don’t think any specific food is going to make you immediately want to take your clothes off, but I do believe there are nutritional components found in certain foods that will make your body and organs perform better—sex organs included.
I also believe that eating certain foods will make you FEEL better and give you more energy, which will increase your body confidence and make you more likely to get down.
Additionally, there are foods that will slow you down, making you feel heavy and bloated. “That third helping of Chinese food really made me want to f*ck,” said no one ever.
And lucky for all of us grasseaters, the majority of the foods that keep your body in peak sexual condition are plant-based.
So what are some of these foods that will prime your organs for optimum O’s? Let’s run down the list of a few of my feel good faves, and what they do to our bodies that will keep us nice and juicy.
Dark leafy greens – Kale, spinach, collards, etc, are blood purifying foods that enhance circulation and can speed up stimulation. More greens, please!
Avocados – The aztecs named the avocado tree the “testicle tree,” most likely due to the fact that they grow in pairs. But that’s not the only sexy thing about avocados. The heart healthy fats in these creamy treats keeps your blood flowing to all of the right places. Plus the monounsaturated fats can ward of heart disease, and men with heart disease are twice as likely to suffer from ED. Yikes!
Soy – I know soy gets a bad name, but it’s actually full of phytoestrogens that keep our girly parts well lubricated. Take that!
Sweet Potatoes – All hail beta carotene! The vibrant orange of sweet potatoes is a vitamin A giveaway, and vitamin A is an important generator for sex hormone production and, ladies, keeps our vaginal and uterine walls healthy. Carrots can do this too, but I prefer my sweets!
Cacao – As if I needed another reason to eat chocolate. Cacao is packed with anti oxidants, which will keep you healthy all over. But it also contains contains phenylethlamine, which stimulates a sense of excitement and boosts your mood.If you’re opting for chocolate over raw cacao, remember that the darker the better, as it will have less sugar and higher cacao ratios.
Hot pepper, ginger and other spicies – Spicy foods can speed up your metabolism and increase blood flow. And you know what I mean when I say blood flow.
So what are your favorite organ priming eats?
