My Vegan Fit Journey: Four Weeks and Counting!

I can’t believe I only have four more weeks to go before I will be stepping on the stage for my first competition!  It feels like time has moved both slow and fast at the same time!  I’ve been warned told that the last four weeks, especially the last week, are the most mentally and physically brutal part of the entire prep period. My trainer Tina is comfortable with the results I’ve made thus far and has no doubts I will be ready for the stage.  I can also tell where I’ve leaned out and definitely gotten stronger. However, going into this last stretch, I will need to push myself even harder with the intensity of my workout sessions and the amount of them will be increased as well.

Right now I’m working out 6 days a week, and 4 of those days I’m working out twice.  I do 45 minutes of fasted (on an empty stomach) cardio in the morning and then my weight training plus another 30 minutes of cardio at night.  Tina said for me to continue doing that, but to increase that to two workouts on all six days if I can. Eek!  She says the more I am able to do, the better.  I’m very competitive, so I will certainly aim to do that for sure, but phew, the thought of that alone is EXHAUSTING!  This process is by far the most challenging thing I’ve ever done mentally and physically.  It is truly like having a second full-time job for sure and a social life – refresh my memory, what is that exactly?

I have definitely also had my share of personal obstacles along the way, but I’m proud to say that I’ve remained focused and kept my head in the game and haven’t deviated from the plan one bit!  There have been a couple little mini emotional breakdowns along the way, but thank goodness for a stellar trainer as well as awesome and supportive friends and family that keep me motivated with their words of encouragement. It’s certainly needed during those “my mind is playing tricks on me” moments that can come along with this journey!

I have done my very best to be patient (not my strong suit) with the process and be gentle with myself and be confident in knowing the results will come and I will walk onto that stage proud of myself for accomplishing this goal.  So, I’ve reconciled within myself that no matter the outcome, I’ve already won- although, let’s be honest here, a trophy would be REALLY nice too! 😉  I did mention that I was competitive right?!

Anyway, I’m ready to make these last weeks count the most and represent plant strong athletes in the best way possible!  Let’s go! #noturningback
